A wheel-thrown ceramic mug with a rounded belly, milk-fired to a deep dark brown on the outside and lined with a smooth, food-safe black glaze inside. It holds 400 ml and suits tea, coffee, or mead — at a reenactment, on a cosplay shelf, or on your desk on an ordinary morning. Each one is shaped and fired by hand, so no two are exactly alike.
This mug brings two techniques together — one old, one practical. The outside is shaped by hand on a wheel from natural clay, then milk-fired the way potters worked before glazes existed: coated with milk and passed through fire until the surface seals into deep, smoky brown tones. That color is the fire's own, not paint.
The inside is where the old craft meets everyday use. It's lined with a smooth, food-safe black glaze that protects the clay, wipes clean easily, and keeps tea, coffee, or mead tasting exactly as it should. You get the character of historical pottery on the outside and modern practicality where it matters.
The form is round and full-bellied, sitting comfortably in the hand — bare or gloved — with a simple loop handle and a small footed base. At 400 ml it holds a proper cup, with room to 430 ml at the brim.
Every piece is centered by hand and fired three times. If something goes wrong in the kiln, that piece doesn't survive — so the one that reaches you came through fire whole. It looks like it belongs in a great hall and in your kitchen, because it works in both.
