A large hand-built red clay tankard carved to look like the staved wood of an old barrel, holding 700 ml. It's made for LARP players, reenactors, Viking festival-goers, and anyone who wants a proper tavern mug rather than a printed prop. Milk-fired and left unglazed, every piece carries its own tone and carved detail.

This is a tankard built for the kind of evening that runs long. At 700 ml it holds a real measure, with a wide handle sized for a full grip and a heavy base that keeps it steady on the table.

The body is carved by hand to imitate aged wood grain — the swirls, knots, and vertical staves of a barrel pulled from a tavern cellar. It's worked from natural red clay, so the warm reddish-brown tone is the material's own, not a stain or a coating. Banded rings at the top and base frame the carving and give it the look of a coopered vessel rather than a thrown cup.

Color and surface come from milk firing. After the first firing the mug is coated with milk and fired again, which seals the clay and draws out those deep, earthy tones — no modern glossy glaze involved. The result is a matte, natural ceramic surface that feels closer to historical pottery than anything off a production line.

It's made in a small workshop, shaped, carved, and finished by hand. Because of that, no two come out the same — slight shifts in color, small differences in the carved texture. Fill it with beer, ale, mead, cider, or kvass, whether you're at a reenactment, a Viking-themed feast, or simply drinking at home.

A little routine care keeps the unglazed surface in good condition over time.

Please Note:

Every mug is shaped and carved by hand, so color, tone, and the carved detail vary slightly from one piece to the next — that variation is part of the milk-firing and handwork, not a flaw. Colors may also look a little different on your screen depending on its display settings.

Why You'll Love It:

- The reddish-brown tone is the natural clay, deepened by milk firing — no glossy glaze
- Carved entirely by hand to mimic the staves and grain of a wooden barrel
- A generous 700 ml capacity for a proper tavern pour
- Wide handle and heavy base make it solid in the hand and steady on the table
- Matte, historical-feeling surface rather than a slick modern finish
- Made in a small workshop, not a factory
