Ribbed, Corked, and Sealed to Actually Hold Its Contents
This is a bottle built to be used, not just displayed. A litre of ribbed clay wrapped in deep cord-lines from base to neck, closed with a natural cork bound in twine — thrown by hand in our Ukrainian workshop and finished so it genuinely keeps what you put in it.
Two Surfaces, One Bottle
The thing that makes this piece unusual is that it's finished two different ways on purpose.
Outside — milk-fired. After the first firing, the bottle is coated in milk and fired again, so the surface darkens to a warm russet and seals without any glaze. That's what gives it the raw, breathing, old-world character where your hand touches it.
Inside — smooth black glaze. The interior is properly glazed, which makes the bottle liquid-tight and simple to rinse. So you get the rustic milk-fired look on the outside and a genuinely sealed vessel on the inside — the reason this bottle can store a spirit or an infusion for the long term, not just pour one at dinner.
The Corded Body
Run a thumb up it and you feel the ribbing — deep concentric throwing lines pulled proud the full height, catching light in horizontal bands. It reads almost like a rope-wrapped flask, and it's what sets this bottle apart from a smooth wall. The narrow 2.5 cm neck pours a slow, controlled stream and takes the cork snugly.

Materials
Natural red clay, fired hard. Milk-fired finish on the outside; food-safe black glaze on the inside. Natural cork stopper. Free of lead and industrial coatings.
Care
- Hand wash only — never the dishwasher
- Rinse soon after use rather than letting contents stand
- Soft sponge or cloth; baking soda for anything stubborn
- No long soaking
- Dry fully before storing; keep the cork out of the neck so both dry through
- Store out of long, direct sunlight
Cared for this way it lasts for years, and the milk-fired surface deepens with age.
As a Gift
For the person who distils, infuses or collects good spirits. Fill it, cork it, and the bottle is the gift — useful long after the contents are gone. Works for housewarmings and folk- or historical-themed weddings.
Shipping
Packed carefully and sent from Ukraine. Standard delivery around 2–3 weeks, faster options on request. Duties prepaid for US orders.
Closing
Cork it and set it down where the light catches the ribbing. Some bottles are used once. This one keeps its place — and its contents.
Also available as a ceramic vodka set with six shot cups, or with two large goblets as a medieval wine set. Prefer a smooth bottle with a ceramic stopper? See our rustic clay wine bottle.
